I’m in love…with lace!!

Lace yarn?…check.
A knitting book on Lace?…check.  Finished/WIP lace project…errrr uhhh, nope.

I just realized I haven’t fully jumped in to the world of knitted lace. Lace looks like slow work.  Not that I really mind, but that’s probably the reason for my hesitation.  That and ripping out tiny mistakes in a fine gauge yarn seems daunting.  Despite knowing the limitations of my bookshelf, I managed to find yet another knitting book to drool over: Ancient Egypt in Lace and Color.

Exquisite lace designs and beautiful colors on the sample photos.  I want to wear each and every one of them. One more book on the wish list!

I have finally finished knitting up the Pink Shawl in a loose lattice lace. Got kind of bored with it after the first skein, but when I finally realized who I wanted to gift it to, I got the mojo to hurry up and finish it. For the most part, it wasn’t a bad stitch pattern because it kept you focused on what you were knitting. I just had to make sure I counted my rows because I got tired of taking out the end of the last row to find out where I left off.

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft (No Dye Lot)

Colorway: Victorian Rose 9721

Stitch Pattern: Loose Lattice Lace

I used about 2.5 skiens and its about 70 something inches long.

The only problem I had with the yarn was that the coloring was different on 2 of the skeins which I didn’t expect from No Dye Lot yarn. But, when you purchase a skein of yarn years ago and then realize you need more, what do you expect? It’s probably more likely discolored from age. More of a reason to whittle down the yarn stash NOW.

Nizzy’s WIP – Rectangular Lace Shawl

Caron Simply Soft, Victorian Rose, 100% Acrylic, Worsted Weight

To have only started knitting a few years ago, my stash of yarn has grown tremendously.  So…in an attempt to use of some of this ‘stash’, I put myself on a yarn diet and started working on this Rectangular lacey shawl to use up my one skein of Caron Simply Soft in Victorian Rose.  Well, of course, one skein wasn’t enough to do what I wanted and I had to  purchase two more.   Hopefully I did not buy more than I really need or I’ll be starting all over again.  That’s the problem with diets anyway.
